Doing some experimentation ... since i've been farming gargoyle skulls for collector items, I had received some candy cane shards from the first few (2-3) presents I got from the necro collector, and everyone that *i've* opened since then has exploded ...

My theory (yes THEORY, don't flame me): don't be greedy!

I've given a few of them to a friend of mine, who had the same results. opened about 5 of them and got some shards, then they started to explode. Then she did the same for me, and I got more shards, then explosions ...

Soo ... draw your own conclusions. Give the gifts to your friends! It's christmas (wintersday?) for god's sake, don't be greedy

Question

My best character I think (level 16, just made it to Maguuma jungle) has not yet made it to Droknar's. Does that mean I'm SOL on the christmas quests & items?

Grawls and gargoyles are apparently the best, I've been doing grawls but am about to try gargoyles. With the big grawl mobs outside Surmia you can get about 1 shard every run, sometimes that would mean one without and then one with 2.

Droknor Forge, Temple of Ages, Beetlerun, Hot Spring and of course Ascalon City. This would be the cities that you needed for these quests.

I know a guy that is absolutely incensed that some of the quest items are in places where all players cannot get to (his necro hasn't been to ToA even she was run to Drok's, etc.), says Anet is "putting people down" by such programming and now threatens to quit the game. I told him that maybe it was a little treat for those of us who had played a while and not just been run to and fro---a bonus, if you will, for playing. Of course, he tends to take the most inane things to rant and whine about...

I completed both quests and had a blast doing them! Made a nice change from being beat on in regular missions (Thunderhead Keep). Thank you Anet for once again giving us a special treat!

Well I can kinda see where he's coming from. I sure as hell don't have time to play to Droknar's in the next few days, and I don't like being left out, especially after missing Halloween.

Left out?!?

Candy Cane shards are everywhere. Where are the Candy Item Crafters?

Gifts can be "bought" at Ascalon City, just like the Halloween items.

Plus, this is all going on for at least another week, maybe longer.

Please, no complaining at the "extras" Anet has worked so hard for!

1000 more experience than Villany of Galrath, and (estimated) 1000 times easier

If you're not lvl 20, you could quite easily get a couple levels off doing both quests.

... on a personal note: I can't wait to personally thrash someone in CA with my IW mesmer holding a candy cane sword ...

It's just the latest in a long line of complaints: Hell's Precipice is un-doable with a warrior/monk (according to him), secondary classes especially for warriors are not playable and so should be done away with, male characters are objects of scorn and subjugation because they are either brawny thugs, pretty boys (ele) or doped-out punks (nec). The list keeps growing. *shrugs*

I must admit, the Wintersday quests would have come in handy *before* my girls were all level 20 and ascended with that 5K xp each!

But since you have to be at Droknar's Forge anyway to complete them...

(unless you were ran there)

Got my first candy cane shard in the Thunderhead Keep mission.

If only the mission were as easy as getting shards.....

man that guys an idiot

On another note...will the candy weapons be needed for a specific event? Someone above mentioned they cant wait to kill the stuff required for these weapons...

Also, no price on each individual weapon? i know teh shards r 1-2k but it seems ppl r selling the weapons for even higher...

i wonder if the candy cane weapons will ever be worth anything more than 4*(current price of shard)? I think the price should go up, but people keep getting more shards, and the prices keep going down... 1k an hour ago.

Just FYI, our group had a cc shard drop in Dragons Lair last night... though i believe the lower level areas around AC would certainly be more efficient for farming them...they seem to drop most everywhere.
